About Me

A brief introduction about myself. I am Stephen Hon, a Malaysian Born Chinese (MBC) When I am studying secondary school at St. Paul Institution (SPI) Seremban from 1981 to 1982, my actual name is Steven Hon.

I need to change the name to Stephen Hon due the following reason. I have a cousin brother that is also by the same name as Steven Hon (which both of us never know). When I stay at my uncle place, we as cousin brothers are sharing the same postal address.

During that time, phone conversation and internet is not even an existence. What "Hot!" that moment is using postal snail mails. As a teenager, the only way to get to know female friends are through Magazines Pen Pals column.

After back from school, I used some of the free time going through pen pals column, picking up randomly the female pals and wrote to them. Once they replied, it mean that they are willing to accept me as pals. Each time I received the mails, I am very excited ..... until one day ....

When I opened up the mail, I read the content of the mail with confusion. It seem like it is refer to another "Steven" instead referring to me. Checking the name of sender & address inside the mail, I realized that it is totally another person (a stranger) which I never write to.

Coincidentally the same day, my cousin brought me another mail and he asked me if this is my mail. Oh My God! It is... I am speechless! Then I asked him back the same question.... (by handling the mail I have) He said, "That right. It is mine" My goodness, how can this mix up?

So finally the confusion is answerable! Both of us are having the same "Steven Hon" name without we realizing it until we involved with same activity. I opened up his letter and in return he opened up mine.... Ha! Ha! What a joke!

What have never expected, have been happened! So I make a deal with him to prevent the same thing happening again. I informed him to keep "Steven Hon" as his name and I am willing to change mine to "Stephen Hon"

Not a bad deal anyway as I like Stephen Hon better than Steven Hon. The only hassle is I need to tell all the female pen pals that I have that moment about the name change. They laughed too about the incident.

That is! This how I get Stephen Hon as my name and it all a history by now. Once a while, there are still people who will called me by name of "Steven" (which I don't mind) but politely tell them it is "Stephen" 😆

Before PRU-14 (Pilihan Raya Umum ke-14) or GE14 (General Election 14) I did not spend much time on online news or political blogs as nothing much seem to interest me.
